Why am I Mary Poppins in this photo?! As a long-time member of Children’s Writers and Illustrators of British Columbia, Canada (www.cwill.bc), I was happy to celebrate the organization’s 20-year anniversary two nights ago by attending a big party. The catch: We were instructed to go as a children’s book character. My friend Karen Hibbard, a children’s book illustrator, went as the Mad Hatter. Do we look like we’re having fun? Believe it or not, I was awarded one of the three best-costume prizes, which means I ended up bringing home a basket of chocolates and coffee, much to my husband’s delight. Better yet, proceeds from this event went to the BC Children’s Hospital, and there were a ton of children’s book authors and illustrators hobnobbing and dancing the night away. Here’s a link to more information on the party: http://cwillbcevents.wordpress.com
